Senator John Curtis (R) Utah

February 10, 2025

According to New York Magazine, “Republicans Let Trump and Musk Roll Right Over Them.”

Does this include Utah’s congressional delegation?

It’s always been my understanding that the legislative and judicial branches of government are supposed to keep the executive branch in check, regardless of which political party happens to be in office. If a Republican president is overstepping their constitutional authority, a Republican-controlled congress and the Supreme Court still have a constitutional duty to reign in that executive overreach.

[Senators Lee and Curtis, and Representative Maloy (District 2) were] elected to represent Utah and I’m concerned that the power of [their] office, as defined by the Constitution, is being usurped by The Executive branch and an unelected Elon Musk.

As a constituent, I’m not okay with that, [they] shouldn’t be okay with that either.

This is confirmation that Curtis is, in fact, rolling over for a convicted felon and forfeiting his responsibilities as a US Senator to an unelected foreign national. His dereliction of duty vis-à-vis his oath to defend the Constitution has been noted.

Subject: The courts ruled, the Executive is ignoring them, the Legislative branch appears impotent

Senator,

In your response to my previous message, you wrote, "I support efforts to make government more efficient..."

That's great! What are YOU doing as a United States Senator to make government more efficient? It's not enough to be supportive, especially since Congress is ostensibly in charge of the proverbial purse strings.

You deflect serious concerns about the Executive branch's blatant violation of the law by saying, "The legal validity of the President’s and DOGE’s actions will ultimately be determined by the courts."

The courts have made it clear that the Executive's actions are harmful and "unconstitutional." Specifically, they are undermining Congress's role in the government. They undermine YOU, your role, your responsibilities, and the power YOU were elected to wield—not yield.

Their defiance of a court order goes even further: blatant disregard of the Judiciary.

As I stated before, the Legislative and judicial branches of government—i.e., YOU, the rest of Congress, and “the courts")—are supposed to keep the Executive branch in check.

I will ask, again, what are YOU doing about this?

Supporting "efforts to make government more efficient" should start with your responsibilities as part of the Legislative branch.

Supporting any efforts made by the Executive branch should likewise be limited to their clearly defined responsibilities. However, your support should END abruptly when they try to undo Congressional legislation already signed into law.

Your failure to act—or even speak—in response to this blatant disregard of the separation of powers suggests that you “support” UNLAWFUL efforts.

If this assessment is incorrect, I beseech you to prove me wrong and ACT as the Senator you were elected to be. Take back the POWER with which you have been entrusted. Do not just roll over in deference to someone you KNOW has never shown sincere respect for the Constitution or the rule of law.

Your elected office and the oath you swore for the privilege of serving in that role demand no less.

I was literally sent the SAME form letter. The only difference is the date.
